Villa Donata, Torre delle Stelle: A South-East Sardinian Base for Six

Torre delle Stelle sits on Sardinia’s south-eastern coast, roughly midway between Cagliari and Villasimius. The setting is a low-key seaside village of villas and pine trees, with a handful of beaches and a small marina. Villa Donata is a detached holiday home here, sleeping six, and makes a practical base for exploring this stretch of the island.

The property

The villa is arranged over a single level, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The living area opens onto a covered terrace, and there is a private garden with space for outdoor dining. A barbecue is provided, along with parking within the grounds.

The location

Torre delle Stelle is built around two main beaches, both within walking distance of the villa. The larger, Spiaggia di Genn’e Mari, has a bar and a seasonal lido; the smaller Spiaggia di Cann’e Sisa is quieter and popular with families. A small supermarket, a bar or two and a restaurant cover everyday needs, and the village is at its liveliest in July and August.

• Villasimius – about 20 minutes by car, with a busy harbour, a wider choice of restaurants and a marine protected area stretching along the coast.
• Cagliari – roughly 45 minutes away, with its historic Castello quarter, markets and museums.
• Costa Rei – a long, pale sand beach backed by low dunes, around half an hour’s drive north-east.
• Cagliari Elmas airport – approximately 50 minutes by car.

Practical notes

A car is effectively essential here; public transport in the area is limited. The nearest shops are a short drive away, and larger supermarkets can be found in Villasimius and along the SS125. The beaches at Torre delle Stelle are free and open to the public.

Best time to go

May, June and September offer warm weather with fewer visitors. July and August are hot and busy, and it is worth booking restaurants and beach services in advance during those months.
