Villa d’Ogliastra, Cardedu: a large self-catering base on Sardinia’s east coast
Cardedu sits on Sardinia’s central-eastern coast, in the Ogliastra region, a stretch of the island known for its long, quiet beaches and the limestone cliffs of the Gennargentu massif behind them. Villa d’Ogliastra is a holiday home in the village, sleeping up to ten guests across its bedrooms.
The setting
Cardedu is a small commune in the province of Ogliastra, roughly halfway between Tortolì and Muravera, and within reach of some of the east coast’s better-known beaches, including those at Barisardo and the coves around Gairo. The village itself is low-key, with a handful of shops, bars and restaurants, and the surrounding countryside is given over to vineyards and olive groves.
The property
The villa is arranged to accommodate a large group, with ten beds in total. It is a self-catering option, which suits families or groups of friends travelling together who want the flexibility of their own kitchen and living space rather than hotel service.
Practical notes
- Sleeps: 10
- Location: Cardedu, Ogliastra, eastern Sardinia
- Type: self-catering holiday home
Getting there
The nearest airport is Cagliari Elmas, around two hours by road to the south. Olbia, in the north-east, is a longer drive of roughly three hours. A car is effectively essential for exploring the coast and the interior from this base.
